Friday the 13th‘s The convoluted storyline follows the mass murderer Jason as he stalks his prey across several films, most of which are campers at Crystal Lake. Hardcore fans of the series know however that Jason wasn’t the first killer in the films. The first killer was his mother, Pamela.
The new series Crystal Lake tells the back story of Pamela, the single mother who is raising her child Jason. Fans of Friday the 13th know the first part of the story, where Pamela goes crazy after Jason dies.
Fans may have a hard time accepting the story that is told in Crystal Lake. After all, like a lot of new additions to old stories, it changes things. For instance, other than his deformity, Jason is a normal kid. He even talks. Another change is that Pamela and Jason seem to be runaways from some sort of secretive government agency. There are plenty of changes such as this throughout the show.
Crystal Lake isn’t all bad. Linda Cardellini is decent in her role as Pamela. You feel for her, and can see why she starts following down a dark road. It’s just the plot and changes to the original story that are bit of a mess. Fans won’t mind seeing Pamela, but what they really want it Jason, and a Jason that is similar to the movies. They don’t get that with this series however, which is a shame. At least in the first couple of episodes.
