What would you do after discovering you’ve been living a lie and then having to piece together your life? That’s the premise of the new series The Last Thing He Told Me.
Based on Laura Dave’s best selling book of the same name, the series centers around a woman (Jennifer Garner). Her life turns upside down after the mysterious disappearance of her husband (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Jennifer Garner stars as the wife searching for answers, aided by Tyler’s Jules — her best friend and reporter — and stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice).
Although know for her comedic chops, the series is the latest addition into thriller territory for Tyler. In addition to her long-running role on Criminal Minds: Evolution, she recently appeared on Fear the Walking Dead. She also directed four episodes across the Walking Dead universe as well as episodes of Evil and Roswell, New Mexico.
Tyler loved having the opportunity to play bestie opposite Jennifer Garner. She considers Garner a pro and good friend in real life. Tyler also chose not to read the best selling novel for her role as Jules. In doing so, the series gave her the opportunity to dive deeper and flesh her out.
Author Laura Dave was thrilled to get the opportunity to bring her beloved characters to life, which she, along with her husband – Oscar winner Josh Singer, has adapted into the series.
Singer, who won an Academy Award for his Spotlight original screenplay in 2016, had originally planned to adapt his wife’s book into a film. Hello Sunshine (Reese Witherspoon‘s production company) came to them proposing a mini series instead and the format intrigued both Singer and Dave. They immediately got to work and in no time, the series was born.
The seven-episode series begins streaming April 14 on Apple TV+.
