All hail the rom-com!! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, I Want You Back comes to Prime Video.
I Want You Back is a cute new light hearted romantic comedy starring Charlie Day and Jenny Slate. They play Peter and Emma, two thirty-something total strangers, but when they meet, one thing instantly bonds them. They were both unexpectedly dumped by their respective partners, Anne (Gina Rodriguez) and Noah (Scott Eastwood), on the same weekend.
As the saying goes, “misery loves company”. But their commiseration turns into a mission when they see on social media that their exes have happily moved on to new romances. Anne is with Logan (Manny Jacinto) and Noah is with Ginny (Clark Backo). Peter and Emma feel terror in the fact that, in their 30s, they lost their shot at happily ever after and they don’t want to to start over. So they hatch a desperate plot to win the loves of their lives back.
Each will do whatever it takes to put an end to their exes’ new relationships and send them running back to their arms.
Canada’s own Manny Jacinto is on fire these days. He has a substantial role as Logan in I Want You Back. Logan, by the way, is an unintentionally hilarious theatre director who spends an inordinate amount of time shirtless. But TV audiences will recognize him for his role in the hit series The Good Place opposite Kristen Bell and Ted Danson.
Audiences recently saw him alongside Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy and many other A-listers in the TV mini series Nine Perfect Strangers. And he co-stars in the new Netflix series Brand New Cherry Flavor.
As if that isn’t enough, we are going to see Manny in the much anticipated action packed film, Top Gun: Maverick. He’s starring opposite none other than Tom Cruise.
Jacinto studied engineering and spent time as a background dancer before acting. And he is thrilled about all of the opportunities that have been coming his way. He does not take anything for granted. He says his next step is likely producing a project , perhaps a rom-com.
Our Bonnie Laufer had the opportunity to speak with Manny about all of his current and past projects. They also spoke about how he is handling his well deserved fame.
I Want You Back is now streaming on Prime Video.
