A whole new generation of Mighty Ducks are ready to capture your hearts!
Now streaming on Disney + almost 30 years after the hit movies, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is here in TV form.
The 10-episode season is set in present day Minnesota. There, the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team.
The Ducks, then unceremoniously cut 12-year-old Evan Morrow from their team. After that, he and his mom, Alex (Lauren Graham), set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of youth sports today.
With the help of Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.
It’s great to see Emilio Estevez back as coach Gordon. But the series also features a talented new team of up-and-coming young actors that will definitely catch your attention. These actors include including Brady Noon, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts. Dylan Playfair (known for his role on Letterkenny) joins the series as Coach T.
If you loved the original Mighty Ducks movies, this charming revival brings some of the original magic back. Spoiler alert – with episode 6 featuring the big reunion episode with all the old Ducks, it’s just like the ’90s all over again!
Our Bonnie Laufer spoke with young actor/hockey player Kiefer O’Reilly and Dylan Playfair about their love for the original movies. They also discussed working on this series with Emilio Estevez and incorporating their passion for playing hockey into their roles.
