‘Ted Lasso Season 2’ – We Hear From the Stars

Who’s excited for Season 2 of the mega hit series, Ted Lasso?

This week, Apple TV+ got 35 Emmy Award nominations across 10 programs, and global hit comedy series Ted Lasso broke records by becoming the most-nominated freshman comedy series in Emmy history with 20 nominations.

The series recently racked up a record number of Emmy nominations – in the “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” category, an unprecedented four out of seven nominations are for Ted Lasso’s supporting cast. Series star and co-writer Brett Goldstein got a nomination for his performance as Roy Kent, AFC Richmond’s aging and hot-tempered captain.

It’s hard to believe where a character that funny man Jason Sudeikis originally developed years ago. The character started from an NBC sports promo and now he has caught on with the world.

The SAG, three-time Critics’ Choice Award and Golden Globe Award winning, global hit series Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.

In addition to starring, Sudeikis serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence (Scrubs). The series was developed by Jason Sudeikis & Bill Lawrence & Joe Kelly & Brendan Hunt, and is based on pre-existing format/characters from NBC Sports.

The entire cast of characters in this series has really struck a nerve with audiences. And not only is the show hilarious but quite heartwarming.

In addition to Jason Sudeikis the series stars Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Nick Mohammed as Nathan “Nate the Great” Shelley, Juno Temple as Keely Jones, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya, Cristo Fernandez as Dani Rojas and James Lance as Trent Crimm.

The series will undoubtedly continue to be full of surprises throughout its second season. And Apple already commissioned a third season .

Our Bonnie Laufer spoke with two of the of the shows star soccer players Cristo Fernadez (Dani Rojas), & Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya) about the new season.

The first episode of Ted Lasso season two premieres July 23 on Apple TV+, and new episodes will premiere every Friday thereafter.
