‘Love Sarah’ – A Delicious Chat with Rupert Penry-Jones

Who doesn’t love sweets? The British rom-com Love Sarah is a charming new film. It will warm your heart and will definitely have you running to your local bakery!

19-year-old Clarissa (Shannon Tarbet) fulfills her late mother Sarah’s dream of opening a bakery in charming Notting Hill. She enlists the help of her mother’s best friend Isabella (Shelley Conn) and her eccentric estranged grandmother Mimi (Celia Imrie).

These three generations of women will need to overcome grief, doubts and differences. They need to cross their own personal hurdles to honor the memory of their beloved Sarah. Meanwhile, they embark on a journey to establish a London store. They hope to fill that store with love, hope and colorful pastries from all over the world. They name the bakery Love Sarah in her memory, but without her skills in the kitchen, how can it succeed?

Rupert Penry-Jones, known for his roles in several British television series and films (Spooks, Whitechapel), plays Mathew. He’s a pastry chef who the ladies hire to create all of the fabulous baked goods for the shop.  Turns out he has a past connection with Sarah and may or may not be helping these women out because of selfish reasons.  Hmmm… the plot thickens!

In a year where people have been turning to cooking and baking for comfort, this movie couldn’t be coming out at a better time.

Love Sarah is released on VOD on January 15th.

Bonnie Laufer spoke with star Rupert Penry-Jones about his own sweet tooth and getting the opportunity to work on Love Sarah.
