Mystic is a new series coming to Canada that will not only appeal to families but to all you horse lovers out there!
The new UK-New Zealand series is coming to Super Channel Heart & Home and premieres on Sunday, May 16. Shot on location in New Zealand, the family-friendly environmental thriller is set in the fictional town of Kauri Point and stars Macey Chipping (Holby City, Vampire Academy) as strong-willed and stubborn teen Issie who begrudgingly moves from London, U.K. to her mother’s (played by Laura Patch; After Life, Bad Mother) remote New Zealand hometown after her father’s death. Living with her mom and activist grandmother, Issie befriends the members of a local youth equestrian club and uncovers a series of secrets surrounding a mysterious injured horse and threats to the local environment.

Desperately missing her friends back in London, a chance encounter with a beautiful wild pony, Blaze, and an enigmatic stallion, Mystic, awakens an unexpected and surprising interest in horses in Issie and introduces her to the teenaged members of a local equestrian club. When an industrial development threatens to destroy their community, their way of life, and the landscape they love, the teenagers must find a way to save Kauri Point from environmental disaster.
This touching and heartwarming family drama is based on bestselling author Stacy Gregg’s Pony Club Secrets book series and executive produced for Super Channel by Brian Bird, co-creator of the popular Canadian-American drama series When Calls the Heart.
Mystic has a relatable storyline for all ages, with family drama, environmental concerns, romance, friendship, adventure, and horses, all set against New Zealand’s stunning natural backdrop.
Our Bonnie Laufer caught up with star Macey Chipping via ZOOM from her home in New Zealand to discuss the series, how she learned to ride a horse for the role and what it was to stop shooting the series due to COVID and literally getting back on that horse once they were cleared to go back to work.
