Tom Welling gets down and dirty in his new action drama Mafia Wars.
It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Tom Welling on the small screen. But the actor, who most know and love for his portrayal of Clark Kent a.k.a. the Man of Steel for 10 seasons on the hit television series Smallville, is back.
Welling is constantly looking for new projects that will showcase his talents and in his latest film, Mafia Wars, he goes all out to show another side of what he can do.
Scott Windhauser directs Mafia Wars. In this movie, Welling plays Terry Jacobs a recently paroled felon forced to go undercover to bring down Griff (Cam Gigandet), the head of the most infamous mob syndicate in Italy. Forced into an undercover unit of six men and on his first day the other five are all killed. Now he must face the men who he was tasked to spy on.
Mafia Wars is full of action and Windhauser shot entirely on location in Italy. Through this movie, Welling got the chance to take on the non-stop action and fight scenes. Those that took months of preparation in advance. Welling embraces his inner action hero. And Cam Gigandet, who has been doing mostly heroic roles lately, is fun to watch back in his bad guy element.
Mafia Wars is available on digital and on demand on October 11.
Our Bonnie Laufer spoke with Tom Welling about taking on this demanding role. They also discuss keeping in touch with his Smallville co-stars, which inlcudes all of them attneding the first ever Smallville convention together.
