Previously on My Life With the Walter Boys, Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) falls in love with Alex and Cole. It doesn’t help that they all live together because Jackie’s mom’s best friend (Sarah Rafferty) adopts her. Moving on to this season, the Walters consider a humble horse tourist venture in their Colorado ranch, a blooming disaster. Those plans obviously overwhelm the family patriarch (Marc Blucas), affecting Jackie and the Walter boys.

Jackie’s boyfriends have lives on their own, like Cole (Noah LaLonde), injured ex QB, becoming assistant coach. Cole and Jackie, though, can’t help but come together, helping each other in things like him driving her places. They keep tabs on each other’s accomplishments school wise, which are the family’s accomplishments as well. Will their entanglements hurt each other as well as Jackie’s rekindled relationship with Alex (Ashby Gentry)?

There’s the same amount of New York City, Jackie’s place of birth, etc., in My Life With the Walter Boys. In a show with too many characters, switching back and forth would make it hard to follow. Less is more this season, even if a little bit of the Big Apple reminding Jackie of home. That bit is Jackie’s uncle who decides to get into the Walters’ horse tourism trainwreck thing.

My Life With the Walter Boys is a simple show but this season, it gets rid of the bad simplicity. The bad simplicity is when the Silver Falls youngsters hate Jackie for no reason, with one exception. The good simplicity though is when the show breathes and shows beautiful country life in Silver Falls. Alex’s interest in being a bronco rider exposes viewers to country life, even if that’s slightly stereotypical.

One thing that My Life With the Walter Boys can’t get rid of is the romantic conflict comprising the… love triangle. It’s season 2, so Jackie still has chemistry between both boys, even if Alex has a new belle. The show hasn’t introduced a third romantic interest for Jackie –  anyone but someone who’s practically her family. This means that these three characters are gonna make each other miserable for another season or two.

If you’re asking if I’m Team Alex or Team Cole, I’m Team Dad in Silver Falls. I guess it’s a hard ask to ask for men and not boys in a teen show. At least, though, this show is growing into its own in some ways, as familial bonds strengthen. My Life With the Walter Boys will have its conflicts among young characters who may have to set their differences aside.
