‘Acapulco’ Season 2 – Catching Up with the Cast

Who’s ready to go back to Acapulco?

The Hit Apple TV+ series is back starring Eugenio Derbez in the lead role. Acapulco is a bilingual comedy series that tells the story of twenty-something Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon). His dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco.

Season two picks up right on the heels of season one, in 1985. Máximo must contend with upheaval at the resort and unexpected problems at home. He also gets a new love interest who just might rival the girl of his dreams. Under Don Pablo’s guidance, he sets his eyes on one day running the entire Las Colinas operation by becoming the right-hand man of Diane. Meanwhile, in present day, older Máximo (Derbez) returns to Acapulco to make peace with the recent passing of Don Pablo. There, he is forced to confront some unfinished business young Máximo left behind.

Joining Derbez in the 10-episode second season are returning stars Arrizon and Fernando Carsa (as Memo). Other cast members include Damián Alcázar (Don Pablo), Camila Perez (Julia), Chord Overstreet (Chad), Vanessa Bauche (Nora), Regina Reynoso (Sara). Last but not least are Raphael Alejandro (Hugo), Jessica Collins (Diane), Rafael Cebrián (Hector) and Carlos Corona (Esteban).

The series is refreshing, funny, heartwarming and full of surprises. The cast literally found out that Apple renewed the show for a second season only 2 weeks before they returned to set to begin shooting.

Our Bonnie Laufer caught up with several of the cast to find out what makes this show tick and how much fun they had getting back together on location in Acapulco.
