For cinephiles and straight up movie nerds there are very few books that get treated like a bible, but the expansive study of the master of the macabre Alfred Hitchcock buy the one and only François Truffaut who was one of the founders of the French New Wave of filmmaking and a film critic in his own right…and now they made a movie about it.

Hitchcock/Truffaut comes off of a successful festival run and opens for an engagement at the TIFF Bell Lightbox starting on Dec. 4th before moving on to the Van City Theatre in Vancouver on Dec 18th and I have 3 ROE (Run of Engagement) double passes to give away for you fine readers here in Toronto.

Quite simply a movie for people who love movies, this film features filmmakers like Wes Anderson, David Fincher, Oliver Assayas, Richard Linklater, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Paul Schrader and Martin Scorsese to name a few mention how this book not only influenced their own works, but each others as well as it was something that quietly changed the face of modern cinema based on the effect it had on a myriad of filmmakers across the globe.

If you want a chance to win, it’s simple.  Give us your name and address here at with the subject header “Hitchcock/Truffaut” and answer the following question.  Both men were never shy about getting in front of the camera, even if only briefly, name a movie or TV show that each director appeared on but that they DIDN’T direct.

The contest is open to the residents of Toronto and will run until 8:59AM on Tuesday December 1st; winners will be chosen at random and informed of their prize after the contest has closed.  Good luck!

Hitchcock/Truffaut opens at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on Fri Dec 4th.'
