When you truly dive into the world of the movies, almost everything is up for grabs but it is also just easy to over look something’s that are a part of our day to day life.

The Finest Hours starring Chris Pine, Holliday Granger, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster and Eric Bana takes us into the daily lives of the men who serve in the Coast Guard and the true life story of a daring rescue that took place during a blizzard in 1952.

As a part of the promotion in advance of this film, I got the unique pleasure to sit down with Ms. Jody Thomas who is the commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard and is the first woman to ever hold that title.  We talked about the role of the Coast Guard, a lot of which is unseen by the general public, how to join and how true to life some of the dramatic scenes that we see in the movie are to the day to day life of the men and the women in the Canadian Coast Guard.
